George III matching sterling silver sugar bowl and cream jug set by Robert and David Hennell 1800.
Beautiful quality sterling silver and gilt set from the turn of the century. Both of ribbed bulbous form with gilt to both internal areas. The silver is of good quality with matching engraved crests to both. The sugar bowl is assayed to the base with the cream jug assayed below the spout. Matching hallmarks, they include duty mark of George III, makers mark, passant lion mark and date letter (E) with London town mark. The crest portrays and arm holding a sword. Inscribed also to both bases is the phase “Ex dono T.T.” translates “As A Gift T.T.” (Latin quotation).
This silver sugar bowl and cream jug set are in excellent condition. Gilt to both is very good with light wear. Crest engravings are light but definable. Assay marks are slightly rubbed with the cream jugs makers mark more so, but all identifiable.
